Tonight Alive - O2 ABC Glasgow - 30/11/14
It's taken me a while to get round to writing this review considering I actually went to the gig 5 days before writing this but I also went to another gig that night to see Nicky Romero and then had three days of college so it's taken some time to catch up on sleep! (9 hours worth of gigs in one night is pretty tiring!) So, I saw Tonight Alive at the O2 ABC in Glasgow as part of their 'Live On The Other Side' tour. This was the final night of the tour so it was nice to be at the last show.
Starting off the night was Chunk! No Captain Chunk! who are a pop punk/ metal band from Paris. I had never actually listened to this band before going to the gig so was quite surprised when I heard them because I definitely wasn't expecting their music to be so heavy. I've been listening to a lot of pop punk music recently so it was great to find out about a band who I've not heard before. If you had ever told me before that a band would play pop punk music mixed with metal then I probably would have just automatically presumed that I wouldn't like it but this was a really great mix and I really liked it. I think my favourite song from their set was definitely the cover they did of 'All Star' by Smash Mouth because that song is a classic!

The next support act on was The Summer Set who are a pop rock band from Arizona. I have a lot of love for this band and was definitely equally as excited to see them as I was to see Tonight Alive. This was technically the second time I had seen the band although the first time I saw them I had spent so long queueing to get into the venue that I missed almost the whole of their set supporting All Time Low so I was really looking forward to actually getting to see them this time! Their set was amazing and they played quite a few of my favourite songs of their which I loved a lot. Their songs are just so up-beat and dancy which definitely makes for a great gig and a really good band to put on before the headliner. Also included in their set was a cover of 'Sing' by Ed Sheeran which they pulled off so well considering no one would normally cover Ed Sheeran but it definitely sounded amazing!
It was then time for Tonight Alive who are a pop punk band from Sydney. I also have a lot of love for this band and was really excited to see them again. Not gonna lie, last time I saw the band I wasn't a fan and hadn't really heard any of their music but after seeing them earlier this year I was converted to being a fan and I have listened to them loads since then and really love their music. They opened their set with their most recent single 'The Edge' which was definitely a great one to start with and the energy in the crowd seemed to be lifted a lot! I think my favourite from their set was probably 'Listening' which was the first song of theirs that I ever heard and the one I was most looking forward to hearing. It was also really nice to have the more laid back and acoustic version of 'Amelia' played by lead singer Jenna McDougall during the set which was a lot different to the songs which they had played at the beginning of the set. If you're into slightly heavier music then I would definitely recommend seeing them. The band have been amazing both times I've seen them and hopefully they'll do another UK tour soon!
