This was my first time going to King Tuts but I would definitely go back again, it’s such a cute little venue (although it was a little bit cold!) I’m still recovering from the injuries that I got when seeing All Time Low so it was really nice to go to a smaller gig with a much calmer crowd! Although it was a sold out show which was amazing because as Billy Lockett said he has previously played at King Tuts three times and this was the first time he had sold out the venue. As many people who go to gigs or photographers will know, red lighting is the worst for trying to get photos. I did try but all you can see is red so I didn't manage to get any photos of either support acts.
Starting off the night was Anna McLuckie. Okay, so I’m not normally a very big fan of the harp but she made it sound AMAZING. She is a really good singer as well and even managed to make a cover of ‘Get Lucky’ sound amazing (I really don’t like that song but she made it sound really good!) She also played a few of her own songs including ‘Hands’ and ‘Little Man on the Moon’ which can both be found on her Soundcloud (I’ll link it below!)
Next support act was The Mermaids who are a sister duet from Galloway. I really like their music and they are both definitely amazing singers. They also played a few of their own songs including 'Dededededum', 'There You Are Again' and also a cover of ‘Royals’ by Lorde which I really loved. I like that song a lot anyway but their cover of it was pretty great! They're definitely a band to look out for!
It was then time for Billy Lockett. He was absolutely amazing and he's such a talented musician as well (I honestly don't know why he's not really really famous yet!) I first saw Billy in 2012 when he supported Nina Nesbitt at the Ironworks and I've loved his music since then so it was nice to get to see him play again, this time on his own sold out tour! He played a number of his own songs including 'Hard Man', 'Your Love Hurts', 'Pathways' and 'Balance' which is definitely my favourite song of his. He then finished his set with a cover of 'Ho Hey' by The Lumineers which was really good. Billy Lockett is such an amazing musician and if you haven't heard him before you should definitely have a listen and go along to one of his gigs!
