So, my last gig of the year was very very good, Red Kites are one of my favourite bands so it was nice to get to see them again! Support for the night came from Andy Ruddy, The Stellars and Lionel. It was a really good turn out as well which was good to see.
Starting off the night was Andy Ruddy who is a singer/ songwriter based in Guildford, who was also joined on stage by Jan Cees Samsom from Red Kites. This was the first time I had ever heard him but I really like his music and will definitely be listening to him again! His music was a lot more laid back and relaxed compared to the other bands which was a nice way to start the night. Hopefully Andy will be back up this side of the country soon to play more gigs!
Next on was The Stellars who are a Brit/ rock band from Inverness. Even though they are a local band this was the first time I had ever seen the full band so it was nice to finally be able to hear them! The band haven't been together very long but they're already sounding really good and it was nice to see that they had a big crowd there to support them. They're music definitely has a much different sound from a lot of other bands that are around right now which I really like and it definitely makes them sound a lot more unique.
After The Stellars was Lionel, who are also from Inverness. I'm going to go al French here and say that they were
très good! They have definitely improved so much as a band since I last saw them earlier this year. Their music is pretty upbeat and catchy which is always a good thing! I also bought their EP which I'm definitely looking forward to listening to. Lionel are another local band who I never really get to see which is a shame because I really like their music!
Headlining the night was Red Kites who were fab as always! I felt like their set went so quickly though, I wish they could've played a bit longer. They're such a good live band and it was not a surprise that there was so many people there to see them. So, they played a few songs off of each of their EP's including 'Threads', 'Plans', 'Peace of Mind', and probably one of my favourite songs ever 'Beat In Time'. They then finished their set in a bit of festive spirit playing 'Christmas Song'!
