So, the Summer Showcases started off to a very good start with Dylan Tierney, Searching For Donkeys and Ashley and the Cosmonauts! It took a while for the Ironworks to start filling up but it ended up pretty busy and it seemed like lot's of people were there to support the local musicians. Starting of the night was Dylan Tierney who is a young singer/ songwriter from Inverness. He played a really good set of his own songs including 'Do You Ever Think?', 'Shake My Love' and 'The Boat Song'. He definitely had a lot of support from people in the crowd and they didn't want him to finish!
Next on was Searching For Donkeys who are an indie/ rock band also from Inverness. The band is made up of Graeme Gilchrist, Gordon Ross, Colin Larkman and Barry MacFarlane. I've seen Searching For Donkeys quite a few times now and they are definitely worth going to see! Their songs are really upbeat and catchy and they were definitely a good band to play the first of the showcases. Searching For Donkeys will also be playing at Belladrum next month and are definitely not worth missing.
Ending the night was Ashley and the Cosmonauts who are also from Inverness. They were a really good band to end the night and they're music sounded very different from the Dylan Tierney and Searching For Donkeys. Ashley is an amazing singer and the band are definitely worth listening to. They did a Faithless cover which sounded really good and they also played a few of their own songs including 'Castles' which is definitely my favourite of their songs. They will also be playing at Belladrum next month and are definitely worth seeing!
