So, I was just doing a bit of scrolling through Facebook and saw this post that 'Rock Sound' shared. It's a video of American band, The Story So Far, playing at Warped Tour and at the start of the video you can see a security guard being really rough with someone who was obviously crowd surfing and had come over the crowd barrier. It then shows members of the band noticing what has happened and starting a fight with the security.
I'm definitely not saying I have anything against security guards because they are there to keep people safe and I do understand most of them do a really good job of that too. However recently, I have noticed that security guards at front of stage can be really rough with people who have come over the barrier (especially crowd surfers). Yeah crowd surfing is not safe at all but it is expected to happen at certain types of gigs and I don't think it's dealt with very well. On the other-hand, I also don't think the band should have got involved because that could have caused even more trouble but I suppose it was one of those moments where they reacted before thinking because they obviously knew that what happened was out of line.
So I suppose the point I'm trying to make is security can be way too violent and I know they're just trying to do their job but there's ways they could go around doing it which is safe. Everyone will have different opinions on this but from what I've seen at gigs and festivals this is my opinion on it.
